Analysis of cutting performance of stainless steel light circle

The machinability of different stainless steels is very different. Generally speaking, the stainless steel round rod has worse cutting performance than other steel, and it means that the austenitic stainless steel has poor cutting performance. This is due to the serious hardening of austenitic stainless steel and the low coefficient of thermal conductivity. Therefore, it is necessary to use hydraulic cutting coolant in the cutting process to reduce the thermal deformation of the cutting. Especially when the heat treatment is not good, no matter how to improve the cutting accuracy, the deformation is inevitable.

Other types such as martensitic stainless steel, ferritic stainless steel, such as stainless steel cutting as long as not quenched after cutting, then with carbon steel is not very different. But both are carbon content, the higher the cutting performance is worse. Precipitation hardening stainless steel due to its different structure and processing method and display the cutting performance of different, but in general the martensitic stainless steel and austenitic stainless steel with the same series and the same intensity in the annealed state under the same cutting performance. To improve the machinability of stainless steel, carbon steels, such as sulfur, lead, bismuth, selenium and tellurium, can be used to improve the machinability of stainless steels.

The addition of elements such as sulfur, selenium and tellurium can reduce wear of the tool, and the addition of lead and bismuth can improve the cutting state. Although the addition of sulfur improves the machinability of stainless steel, the corrosion resistance has decreased markedly because it is in the form of MnS compounds in steel. To solve this problem, a small amount of molybdenum or copper is usually added.
